Is CBD Addictive , Halaal etc
Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil is becoming more and more popular in the UK as a way to gently help the body’s functions and it’s a natural alternative that people from all walks of life are turning to. The United Kingdom as a whole, is a diverse place with many colors, creeds and faiths all sharing the same island and the Muslim community accounts for just over 5% of the population. With so many Muslims native to the UK, the question is often raised as to whether under Islamic law, CBD Oil is Haram (forbidden) or Halal (permissible). Only by answering this question can people of the Muslim faith know whether the benefits to health are open to them or not. A BRIEF LOOK AT HOW CBD OIL IS CREATED In order to answer the title question, we need to start with a look at what CBD Oil is and how it’s processed. This should give us all the information we need to make an informed decision about what the right answer is in the eyes of the Quran. CBD Oil and the various types of CBD products available on the market are derived from the Cannabis Sativa genus, commonly known as the cannabis plant. This raw plant matter is put through either a clean CO2 or a solvent based extraction process, which results in the innate cannabinoids being left behind in the end product. THC Whilst Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (the active enzyme that causes the ‘high’ for cannabis smokers) is present in the plant before the process is begun, there are none left after it has been completed. Therefore, it should not be deemed as Haram due to risk of intoxication, as there is no such effect possible with the use of CBD products. THE USE OF SOLVENTS There are some who are worried about the use of alcohol or alcohol-based solvents in the extraction process, feeling that there would be some present in the final product. However, CBD oil will invariably contain no alcohol, as all solvents are evaporated during extraction, leaving just helpful cannabinoids behind. There may be trace elements of solvents left behind, depending on the quality of the equipment being used to extract the CBD, but even then, it is not something that is going to prevent CBD Oil from being classed as Halal. Furthermore, the CBD we supply is extracted via the CO2 method therefore it does not come in to contact with alcohol in any case. Fact: No intoxication of any kind results from the consumption of CBD Oil as neither THC nor alcohol is present. RELAXATION NOT INTOXICATION Our many past and existing customers who regularly ingest CBD Oil as part of their daily routine express a feeling of calmness and relaxation after taking their daily dose, which is a measure of the balance that is enhanced with its inclusion with a person’s diet. The body itself produces endocannabinoids, which transmit messages around the body, performing a range of functions relating to appetite, pain and mood. The Phytocannabinoids present in CBD Oil mimic the body’s endocannabinoids, which helps to promote health, general wellness and assists the body’s internal functions. The resultant calmness from imbibing CBD products should be classed as relaxation, not intoxication and therefore shouldn’t be classed as Haram. IN CONCLUSION At Nature’s Blends, we would suggest that CBD products are Halal, but we understand that some of Muslim faith may be uncomfortable with the idea and would prefer not to try it. This is, of course, everyone’s own individual prerogative and if this is the case, we completely respect your choice. We also concede that the jury is still out in both the Muslim community in regard to CBD’s Halal status and the medical industry as to its efficacy as a treatment for physical ailments. POPULAR OPINION What we do know however, is that the overwhelming majority of our many regular customers tell us that including CBD products in their daily lives has had a positive effect on their moods, energy levels and overall health. There are simply thousands of people who can attest to how pleased they are that they gave it a try and are now enjoying an improved state of wellbeing. And if we are talking about facts, then the evidence is certainly there to back up our suggestion that CBD Oil and CBD based products are Halal, because there truly is no truth in the rumor that CBD products induce any kind of change in state of mind or psychoactive effect. You wouldn’t and couldn’t achieve these states of being, even if you were to try.
